Tilted Triode

A while back I had posted about the use of a couple of old chicken brooder lamps in other projects.  (see, “Brooding Over It”  http://www.novioljourneys.com/?p=796)  Towards the end of that article I referenced a planned use for one of them as a platform upon which to mount one of my neon art creations.  I just realized that while I had completed this a few weeks ago and shared photos of the results, I had neglected to share those photos here.  Therefore, to correct this, here are some photographs of that piece.

Taking a close look, you can see why this seemed a good use for that brooder fixture.  The unit had a heater, a protective screen, and a metal plate.  A triode vacuum tube has within its envelope a heater (filament) a screen (grid) and a plate.  These are arranged in a different order on the old brooder, but they are visible and gave some visual effect that related to the electronic triode symbology.  The use of the cloth covered high tension leads to the tubes and the power cord using a twisted pair of green and yellow with a red tracer on one lead combined with a vintage inline switch and vintage plug completes the vintage look of the piece.
